UNC product Bard fascinates Red Sox fans
Posted May 13, 2009
Daniel Bard, who pitched for North Carolina, was recalled by the Boston Red Sox Sunday, sparking plenty of interest in New England in Bard and his 100-mph fastball. Bard struck out 29 batters in 16 innings at Pawtucket, which spurred the Boston Globe to wax on about the best Boston power pitchers of all time in a story on its website. The Red Sox drafted Bard in the first round out of UNC in 2006.
