UNC product Bard fascinates Red Sox fans

, who pitched for North Carolina, was recalled by the Boston Red Sox Sunday, sparking plenty of interest in New England in Bard and his 100-mph fastball. Bard struck out 29 batters in 16 innings at Pawtucket, which spurred the Boston Globe to wax on about the best Boston power pitchers of all time in a story on its website.
