Ty Linton to play football and baseball at UNC
Posted May 23, 2009
Charlotte linebacker Ty Linton, who entertained scholarship offers from more than a dozen major-college football programs, has decided to play for North Carolina. Linton, who’ll be a senior next fall at Charlotte Christian School, chose the Tar Heels over offers from East Carolina, Duke, Illinois, Miami (Ohio), Syracuse, Vanderbilt, Virginia, Wake Forest, West Virginia and Wisconsin. The 6-foot-3, 200-pounder won’t just be playing football for the Tar Heels. Linton is also a baseball star who has led Charlotte Christian to back-to-back independent league state championships. So he’ll also be allowed to play outfield for the UNC baseball team.
