Coastal Carolina had just cut UNC's lead to a single run thanks to pair of deep home runs, the second by outfielder Daniel Bowman coming in a parking lot in the shadow of Ehringhaus Residence Hall, well beyond the left field wall of Boshamer Stadium. Later in the inning, Tar Heels infielder Kyle Seager dropped a single in front of the Chanticleers' charging centerfielder Rico Noel that lacked the majesty of Bowman's blast but proved much more damaging.
