Experience a plus as UNC gets down to work

The Tar Heels kicked off their first day of practice for the 2009 season Friday. Butch Davis took over a lagging program that won three games in 2006. After an 8-5 bowl season, the Tar Heels open Davis' third season ranked No. 20 in the USA Today Top 25, which was released Friday. It's the first time since 1998 the Heels have been ranked in the preseason. (Raleigh News & Observer)
