Offensive Nick Appel lineman commits to UNC

North Carolina has received its eighth oral commitment for the Class of 2010 from 6-foot-6, 300-pound offensive tackle Nick Appel of Arlington, Va. The Tar Heels were the first school to offer Appel a scholarship. He plays for Bishop O'Connell High School. Appel was also being recruited by Maryland and Pittsburgh, according to Bishop O'Connell head coach Steve Trimble.
