Matt Merletti Out for Season

North Carolina junior defensive back Matt Merletti tore the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee during Tuesday afternoon’s practice and will miss the 2009 season. One of Carolina’s top special teams players, Merletti was competing for playing time at safety this fall. In 2008, the Cleveland native was a co-captain on special teams. (Inside Carolina)
