Defender Whitney Engen led Carolina to a pair of women' soccer wins at the St. Mary's Classic and is the Progress Energy Tar Heel of the Week for August 31-September 6, 2009. The senior from Rolling Hills Estates, Calif., was the Most Valuable Defensive Player of the 2009 Inn at St. Mary's Soccer Classic as No. 1-ranked North Carolina recorded a pair of shutout wins over No. 2-ranked Notre Dame 6-0 and Marquette 1-0.
