No. 19 North Carolina’s offense looked grounded through three quarters, but two late 13-play scoring drives knotted the score with Connecticut and the Tar Heels’ tenacious defense took care of the rest, forcing a safety with 1:32 remaining to escape the Northeast with a 12-10 victory. The Tar Heel defense intended to prove on Saturday that last weekend’s dominating performance over The Citadel was no fluke.
