UNC notebook: Why not try something different?

As North Carolina’s offensive coordinator, John Shoop has demonstrated the ability and willingness to have the quarterback throw the ball downfield on a regular basis. Shoop has also shown a stubborn willingness to not throw the ball deep, while relying on the run and the short to intermediate passing game. That decision to stick with what is not working has gotten Shoop into controversy before.
