Dean Smith heard the roars one more time yesterday. During halftime of the UNC’s ACC semifinal, as the public-address announcer presented a full lineup of basketball legends, the crowd spotted Smith in one corner of the court wearing a Carolina blue sports jacket, Carolina blue shirt and yellow tie. The polite claps and gentle cheers soared, muffling the announcer’s introduction almost before he started. The chatter didn’t matter. Dean Smith needs no introduction.
