It was fitting that the by far loudest cheer in the Smith Center on Wednesday night came when freshman forward John Henson used his left hand to viciously swat away a layup attempt by North Carolina Central’s Nick Chasten. On a night when sixth-ranked North Carolina flexed its muscle on defense, leading to an 89-42 rout of the visiting Eagles, Henson’s spike late in the second half stood as appropriate punctuation.
