Womens Soccer Team Named Progress Energy Performer Of The Week

Carolina beat top-ranked and previously unbeaten Stanford, 1-0, to win the 2009 NCAA women's soccer championship and earn Progress Energy Tar Heel of the Week honors for November 30-December 6. Head coach Anson Dorrance's squad overcame three regular-season losses and a rash of injuries to prevail as the national champion for the 21st time in the last 29 years.
