100 years of Carolina basketball: The Duke rivalry

Donald Williams will openly admit that he never really was a die-hard North Carolina fan as a kid. Instead, growing up near Raleigh, Williams found himself cheering hardest for his favorite players. There was Ralph Sampson at Virginia and Patrick Ewing at Georgetown. Heck, Williams says he probably spent more time in his younger days rooting for Duke than he did Carolina.
