Roy Williams watches Valley scare Ames, Harrison Barnes


After Monday night’s stunning loss to College of Charleston, North Carolina basketball coach delayed his flight to see Ames recruit until Tuesday. “We were so disappointed from last night’s game,” he said with a laugh. “I was afraid to get on an airplane or anything.” Popcorn in hand Tuesday night, Williams smiled through a stream of picture- and autograph-seeking fans to watch as Barnes and the Ames boys basketball team struggled past one-win West Des Moines Valley, 77-58.
