Roy Williams grading on a curve

Roy Williams pulled back the curtain a bit to explain that Dexter Strickland isn't grading out the same as Marcus Ginyard in practice. Fair enough, since coaches see things the fans and media don't have access to in the gym. However, at what point does Williams put the importance of practice aside and stress the importance of helping your team during an actual game? (WRAL Sports Fan)
