Harrison Barnes named Naismith finalist

Basketball star Harrison Barnes of Ames today has been named a finalist for the boys’ Naismith Award, which honors the nation’s top player. Barnes was one of six players selected. The others are from Indiana, Florida, New York, New Jersey and Ohio. The 6-7 senior has averaged 27 points and 10 rebounds a game this season. The Atlanta Tipoff Club, which makes the annual selection, will recognize the winner on March 23.
