Taken by surprise, Tar Heels try again -- in NIT

For once this season, Roy Williams had a good surprise. As he and the Tar Heels watched the National Invitation Tournament selection show a few hours after the NCAA Tournament’s version, all except the last bracket had been unveiled and UNC was nowhere in sight. Williams told assistant coach Steve Robinson that, given a few teams whose names hadn’t been called, there was no way UNC was in the field.
