Nearly 50 years later, William Friday remembers the details to a point-shaving scandal in the ACC as if it happened just a week ago. He also stands just as firm today with his decision then to scale back big-time basketball at North Carolina and N.C. State. Friday's belief at the time was the Dixie Classic represented how college athletics was fast distancing itself from the university campus.
