West Charlotte grad joins UNC

Though Minnesota announced last week that Everett Withers was leaving its defensive coordinator position to join the Tar Heels, North Carolina didn't announce his hiring until Monday. Withers was defensive coordinator for Minnesota in 2007 after spending the previous six seasons as the Tennessee Titans' defensive backs coach. He also coached defensive backs at Texas for former North Carolina coach Mack Brown. (Charlotte Observer)
