Tar Heels' Tidewater pipeline still flows

Of the eight UNC players who made the ACC's 50th anniversary football team, five hailed from Hampton Roads. Given that history, we shouldn't have been surprised Thursday when Phoebus High defensive end Daquan Romero committed to the Tar Heels. Not to say Romero was influenced by the past. Heck, he's probably blissfully unaware. But Romero's recruitment does remind that UNC coach Butch Davis, like his predecessors, isn't foolish enough to ignore a hotbed such as this not far from the state line.
