State track: Farewell, Harrison Barnes
Posted May 23, 2010
Ames’ Harrison Barnes walked away from his Iowa high school athletic career with a state track meet medal. Barnes, the basketball all-American who went out for track this spring, took sixth in the Class 4-A long jump Friday, leaping 21 feet 4 3/4 inches. “I didn’t finish the way I wanted to, but hopefully I can do well at North Carolina,” Barnes said, his orange track shoes under his arm. He will play basketball at UNC next season.
