Tar Heels Open Regional Play With California

North Carolina (36-20) opens its quest for a fifth straight trip to the College World Series Friday challenging California (29-23) at 7 p.m. (CST) in game two of the NCAA Norman Regional at L. Dale Mitchell Park. The Tar Heels will start junior right-hander Matt Harvey (7-3, 3.10 ERA) opposite the Golden Bears freshman left-hander Justin Jones (10-5, 3.77 ERA). Harvey, a first team All-ACC honoree, has dazzled all season long.
