Junior WR Avery Johnson already a coveted recruit
Posted Aug 17, 2010
Avery Johnson, a 6-3, 180-pound receiver at Ely, might be only a junior. But with a likely future first-round pick for an older brother, and with 4.4 speed and great hands, Johnson is generating as much recruiting buzz as any underclassman in the country. "Avery is a freak of nature,'' [coach Rodney] Gray said. "You just don't see guys with his size and ability at his age. He can do whatever he wants at receiver. We put him at strong safety, free safety in 7-on-7 drills and he looks like an All-American there, too. It's just all natural for him."
