Jackson Simmons commits to walk-on at UNC
Posted Aug 18, 2010
Smoky Mountain senior Jackson Simmons knows that if everything falls into place, he could be playing for a state championship March 12 in Chapel Hill. Simmons also knows now that any future trip to the Smith Center will not be his last. With a year to go in his basketball career, the 6-foot-8 forward has decided to bypass scholarship offers and walk-on at UNC. Simmons had offers from Appalachian State, Charlotte, Davidson, Duquesne, Elon, Old Dominion, Richmond, William & Mary, UNC Wilmington, USC Upstate, Western Carolina and Wofford.
