UNC prepared for the possibility of playing without star defensive tackle Marvin Austin by sticking Austin with the second-team defense through much of camp. That opened up an opportunity for junior Quinton Coples to move into the middle of the D-line at times. Coples has worked primarily at defensive end during his time in Chapel Hill. But if Austin is unavailable, the Heels will want to take advantage of Coples’ overall athleticism.
