Batten: No silver lining in UNC's loss

"I couldn't be prouder of the way we competed,'' Butch Davis added. "We are getting better.'' All those things may be very true. And certainly, as the leader of North Carolina's program, Davis has to believe them. But in reality it's difficult to see the silver lining in a defeat that could be a sign of things to come, and that left many of the 58,500 who came to watch the Tar Heels home opener already wondering what might have been.
