Matt Merletti's flag carries family significance

When Matt Merletti raced onto the field for the first game after his brother’s return from overseas, he did so with the battle-tested American flag whipping above his head. Whether Merletti has carried it, the flag has accompanied the Tar Heels on the field for each game since. And it’s somehow fitting that Merletti’s flag has been front-and-center each time the Tar Heels have taken the field.
