During a four-game winning streak, UNC had been able to handle all the confusion and missing players, created by injury or the NCAA investigation. But with three more injuries on defense, in addition to the absence of injured starters linebacker Quan Sturdivant and cornerback LeCount Fantroy, the personnel drain caught up to the Tar Heels. "You only have so many moves," coach Butch Davis said.
