Tar Heels take on Barton tonight

North Carolina will host a former national champion today in its final tune-up before kicking off the regular season in a week. Barton College, which won the Division II national championship in 2007, will visit the Smith Center (7:30 p.m.) for the Tar Heels’ lone exhibition game. UNC, which is ranked No. 8 in the Associated Press preseason poll, will begin its regular season on Nov. 12 against Lipscomb.
