Feb. 4, 1961: With both teams ranked in the top five, the stakes and the emotion of the rivalry had reached a new peak. The intensity boiled over when Blue Devils star Art Heyman committed a hard foul on Larry Brown under the basket. Brown took offense and bounced up, both players began swinging and in a blink of an eye both Tar Heel players and Duke fans had rushed onto the floor for an unruly brawl.
