Roy Williams said his young team needed to cut down on mistakes and execute better. But in the Tar Heels’ return to the Smith Center on Tuesday, turnovers and poor defense allowed UNC Asheville to hang around much longer than Williams would have liked. No. 25 UNC led by as many as 22 in the second half but saw the Bulldogs cut it to as few as six before holding on for an 80-69 win.
