In the age of over-the-top responses to the frightening effects of concussions and other head injuries, there's a minor movement in football to ditch the facemask, or even the entire helmet, on the grounds that they pose more danger as a weapon than they provide as safety devices. After tonight's Music City Bowl, we can probably count North Carolina defensive end Donte Paige-Moss in the firmly pro-helmet camp.
