The Tar Heels welcomed five newcomers when classes started in January and signed 20 more to scholarships on Wednesday. To acquire a well-balanced class that touches every need on the roster, head coach Butch Davis and his assistants overcame a host of challenges: horrendous weather, shots from opposing schools and all manner of long odds.
