Drew walks away, shocks Tar Heels
Posted Feb 5, 2011
Larry Drew left the North Carolina basketball program Friday without explanation, choosing to walk away with the team playing its best basketball of the season and facing its toughest week. Drew, a junior, left 18 days after losing the starting point-guard job. Coach Roy Williams of North Carolina said he learned of Drew’s decision about 9 a.m. Friday, when he returned a call from Drew’s father, Larry Sr., the coach of the Atlanta Hawks.
