Recent Maryland commitment may improve UNC's chances with recruit Desmond Hubert

A recent basketball commitment to the University of Maryland by 2011 6'9" German post player Martin Breunig may significantly improve North Carolina's chances to land center (6'9" 210, New Egypt NJ), the lone remaining target for UNC's 2011 recruiting class.

Prior to Breunig's commitment, Hubert had narrowed his choices to UNC and Maryland. Now with Breunig heading to Maryland, Hubert's chances for immediate playing time seem significantly better as a member of the Tar Heel lineup. There is no known timetable for Hubert's decision, but expect more news in the coming weeks as Hubert's senior season draws to a close.
