Maryland coach Gary Williams left a happy birthday message for former Carolina coach Dean Smith before departing the Smith Center. “I just want to say congratulations to Coach Smith on his 80th birthday [Monday],” Williams said. “There are a lot coaches that owe Coach Smith a great deal for what he did for the game and what he did for coaches.” (Raleigh News & Observer)
