Tommy LaGarde blocks out Marquette memories

Tommy LaGarde holds a place in UNC basketball lore because of a game in which he didn’t play. That came in 1977 against Marquette in the national championship game. Now a Saxapahaw resident and with only casual interest in the Tar Heels program, LaGarde’s role during a previous era has been recalled this week. On Friday night, UNC and Marquette face off in the East Regional semifinals.
