Archie Goodwin named Arkansas Gatorade Player of the Year


Sylvan Hills junior Archie Goodwin has been named the Gatorade Arkansas Boys Basketball Player of the Year. A 6-foot-5-inch junior, Goodwin is the first Sylvan Hills player to win the honor, which is in its 26th year. He now a finalist for the National Player of the Year award, which will be announced this month. His talent has brought many of the nation’s top collegiate coaches to Sherwood in the past year in an effort to recruit the young player. Representatives from basketball powers such as Kentucky, North Carolina and Kanas have been regulars. (Jacksonville Patriot)
