North Carolina quarterback Bryn Renner is the expected starter and had a good spring, but the Tar Heels came out of spring ball without a clear-cut backup for him. True freshman Marquise Williams competed with Braden Hanson and A.J. Blue, who was injured two years ago and redshirted last season.
