Rising senior Phillip Williamson was about to take the field for summer workouts on Wednesday when word began trickling out that North Carolina football coach Butch Davis had been fired. When Williamson heard the news, it came as a surprise to him. "I was shocked because last week at the 7-on-7 everything was great," Williamson said in a phone interview. "When I heard he got fired, I was just shocked." Despite the firing of Davis, Williamson insists that he will remain committed to the Heels.
