By getting behind Butch Davis, digging in their heels and publicly praising a coach who at the very least surrounded himself with characters who eventually got him canned, chancellor Holden Thorp and AD Dick Baddour have perhaps now put their jobs on the line for backing a horse that had no chance to reach the finish line.
