Reaction to Butch Davis's firing varied from one of shock and surprise to understanding of why the firing occurred. Fan Rick Figard said he understands motivation behind the firing. “People have to look out for the name of the school.” Others are concerned about how the firing will impact the football team; especially since we're close to the start of the football season. “I think they’re making a big mistake,” said Chris Smith.
