Chancellor Holden Thorp said this decision has been weighing on him for the last couple of weeks and that he consulted with various people during that timeframe. He completed the process on Wednesday when he informed the UNC Board of Trustees that he was removing Butch Davis as head football coach. Thorp made it clear that Davis’s removal was his decision and that the Board of Trustees gave their “unanimous support.” (Inside Carolina)
