Finally, after an offseason sprinkled with both hype and frustration, North Carolina’s team will suit up for the first time in front of adoring Tar Heels fans on Oct. 15. The basketball team, that is. You know, the featured athletic program that has actually been allowed an opportunity by the university’s administration to be successful this season. The football team’s opportunity was effectively taken away on Wednesday when head coach Butch Davis was fired.
