UNC chancellor Holden Thorp had good cause for firing football coach Butch Davis, but why did he have to go and insult the intelligence of anyone who knows how big-time college athletics work? Because while rule breaking and other cheating can lead to embarrassment for any school, even within approved NCAA guidelines, academic integrity and big-time football have never been compatible.
