Say what you will about the dismissal of Davis, the timing of the move by Chancellor Holden Thorp, the retirement of Athletic Director Dick Baddour, the appointment of Everett Withers as interim head coach. There is plenty of fodder for jaw-boning every angle imaginable. But on this issue there is no room for discussion: The Tar Heels have played football at the very highest level before and done so quite well.
