UNC had to overcome five turnovers, 94 yards worth of penalties and a 119-yard receiving day from Scarlet Knights receiver Mohamed Sanu in order to open the season 2-0. Interim coach Everett Withers - who watched his defense hold Rutgers (1-1) to one net rushing yard, record four sacks and make a critical first-quarter goal-line stand - took a positive approach.
