Giovani Bernard, a freshman tailback on the Tar Heel football team, is the Tar Heel Performer of the Week for September 5-11, 2011. Bernard's two rushing touchdowns led Carolina past Rutgers 24-22 last Saturday. Bernard's 60-yard touchdown run in the second quarter gave Carolina a 14-6 lead. It is the longest run by a Tar Heel since Johnny White's 67-yard score against William & Mary in 2010.
