Giovani Bernard, a freshman tailback on the Tar Heel football team, is the Tar Heel Performer of the Week for September 5-11, 2011. Bernard's two rushing touchdowns led Carolina past Rutgers 24-22 last Saturday. Bernard's 60-yard touchdown run in the second quarter gave Carolina a 14-6 lead.
