Despite allowing 188 first-half yards, North Carolina's defense prevented the Cardinals from scoring as the teams reached halftime tied at 0-0. In the second half, the Tar Heels outgained Louisville 202 yards to 85 and the Cardinals failed to score until 42 seconds remained. Freshman Giovani Bernard became the first UNC player in 27 years to rush for 100 yards in four straight games.
