When UNC coach Roy Williams would ask visiting alums who was playing well in on-campus pickup games this summer, they often mentioned Leslie McDonald's name first. Kids from UNC's summer camps couldn't stop talking about McDonald, either. How he fits into the Tar Heels' plans for 2011-12 remains unclear. McDonald injured his right knee in mid-July, requiring surgeries to reconstruct his ACL and repair his meniscus
